Ecommerce

Accounting for sellers who know a payout is not revenue.

The Shaazford group grows ecommerce brands for a living. Shaazbook keeps their books. That means settlement reconciliation, inventory by SKU, marketplace-collected tax and cross-border VAT are the default, not a special request.

01Where it goes wrong

Four mistakes we fix in the first month.

01

Payouts booked as revenue

Amazon deposits net of fees, ads, refunds and reserves. Booking the deposit hides 25 to 40 percent of cost and makes every margin figure wrong.

02

Sales tax and VAT remitted twice

Marketplaces collect on marketplace sales in the US, UK and EU. Sellers who do not strip it out either over-remit or over-state revenue.

03

Inventory nobody can reconcile

Stock in FBA, in transit, in a 3PL and at the factory, in three currencies. Without landed cost by SKU, gross margin is a guess.

04

Nexus discovered by a state auditor

FBA inventory in twelve states is physical presence in twelve states. The letter arrives years later with interest.

02What we do instead

Built for the sector, not adapted to it.

  • Settlement reconciliation for every channel, every marketplace, every currency
  • Contribution margin by SKU and channel in the monthly pack
  • Perpetual inventory with landed cost, reconciled to platform stock reports
  • US sales tax nexus study, registrations and returns; UK and EU VAT with OSS and IOSS
  • Ad spend matched to the revenue it drove, per channel
  • Cash flow forecast that models inventory purchases against payout timing
04Questions
Do you integrate with Amazon and Shopify?

Yes, through A2X or Link My Books into Xero or QuickBooks, with manual settlement processing where a platform's integration lags, which currently includes TikTok Shop and Noon.

I sell in the US from the UK. Do I need a US company?

Not necessarily. A UK company can sell on Amazon.com and register for US sales tax without a US entity. A US LLC helps with banking, some suppliers and Walmart onboarding. We advise on your case.

Can you work with the agency that runs my Amazon account?

If it is Shaazford, we already share the data. If it is another agency, we work from the reports you both have access to.
